The festival of Ramlia and Dussehra is celebrated with much fervor and gusto in Netaji Subhash Palace Pitampura Delhi. It falls approximately twenty days before the festival of Diwali. Vijay Dashmi celebrations in New Delhi, India are incomplete without the famous Ramlila (enactment of the great epic Ramayana). Ramlilas start a few days before Dussehra and culminate on the day of the festival. After the final act of the Ramlila gets over, huge effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakaran and Meghnath are burnt as mark of the destruction of evil. Lots of fireworks are visible as the effigies are burnt, signifying the festival of Dussehra

Dussehra is one of the most vibrant times to visit Pitampura Flower Market in Delhi, as people buy golden marigolds for traditional decoration and worship.

Ramlila in Delhi

Shree Keshav Ramlila Committee, also popularly known as Netaji Subhash Palace Pitampura Delhi is a huge ground located in the outer of the city of Delhi. Situated inside the walled city, the Pitampura is fortified on all sides, has two large gates and is very well-maintained. The Pitampura even has a pond in the middle. The Pitampura are popular because every year during Dusshera, the demon king Ravana's effigy is burned here and Ramlila is performed everyday during this period. The ground is also used for other religious gatherings and major political meetings, rallies and other events.

The Netaji Subhash Palace Pitampura Delhi has been a venue for many important events such as it was the place where Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru held a public meeting in 1961 to welcome Queen Elizabeth. Many other meetings and gatherings have been held here which include post war gatherings, rallies against government policies etc.

Ramlila, India's most famous theatrical experience. Ramlila is the the enactment of the story of Lord Rama. In Ramlila the life of Rama is shown in the form of a series of plays. This story of Rama's life is enacted to mark his victory over Ravana and his return to his kingdom. The complete life story of Rama is covered in ten days. The 10th day is celebrated as Dussehra (Vijaya Dashami) - the day of victory when Rama defeats the Demon King Ravana. Ramlila Mahotsav ends with "Bharat Milap" on the 11th day.
Shree Keshav Ramlila Committee is one of the oldest committees in Delhi known for its best participation in Ramlila Mahotsav and Mela, was established in the year 1996. Since its inception the committee has been organizing Ramlila at DDA Ground NSP Pitampura, Delhi. The Committee is being governed by the office bearers, elected out of dignitaries, Social Workers, prominent citizens, businessmen and other learned personalities. Our mission is to present beautiful and graceful manchan of Shree Keshav Ramlila Committee (NSP Pitampura) so as to make our new generation aware and knowledgeable about our past Culture and religion.
